This program gives you the skills and experience required to safely lead groups of certified divers, and is the first step towards an exciting career as an SSI Dive Professional without requiring you to complete an instructor program. Professional Dive Masters can work for SSI Dive Centre's, guiding dives in a variety of environments and conditions. You will earn the SSI Dive Master certification after completing this program.

This program is run internship-style with no set timeframe for completion as this varies between candidates and depends on availability of candidate.  Payment of course fee does NOT guarantee certification as a divemaster.  All professional courses have strict performance requirements and Manta Lodge will not certify candidates they believe are not at the standard required by Manta Lodge dive professionals.

Manta Lodge dive professionals are amongst the industries best-trained dive professionals - to ensure this standard is kept high - all divemaster candidates must complete a dive with our team to demonstrate capability in the below dive areas at a diver level ability.  

This program comprises of the SSI Dive Guide/Divemaster program and the SSI Science of Diving specialty.

THIS PROGRAM HAS SPECIFIC PREREQUISITES - GET IN TOUCH WITH US TO DISCUSS PRIOR TO BOOKING YOUR DIVEMASTER COURSE

Prerequisites (please note the Padi Advanced Open Water is NOT equivalent to the below courses)

 - SSI Deep diver (40m) or equivalent

 - SSI Nitrox or equivalent

 - SSI Night/Limited visibility or equivalent

 - SSI Navigation or equivalent

 - SSI Stress and Rescue or equivalent

 - Current First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Administration

 - Current AS2299 Dive medical

 - Own full set of professional level dive equipment (contact us for full details)

 - High level of physical fitness - the area is prone to current, swell and other rough conditions - all professional dive candidates must be able to demonstrate a high level of physical fitness to participate in pro courses including:  

1. Able to swim 400m without stopping in under 12 minutes
2. Able to complete a 2km run without stopping 
3. Able to tow a fully-kitted unconscious diver 100m in ocean conditions

- Demonstrate competence in Fundamental dive skills including:

1. Able to hold a mid-water stop with no reference at a depth of 5-6m 
2. Able to safely and efficiently deploy a DSMB from depths
3. Can demonstrate sound judgement and critical thinking skills underwater
4. SAC rate of under 20lts per minute
