The Extended Range course builds on the technical foundations gained during the XR Nitrox course and focuses on mastering decompression procedures. You will use gas mixes of up to 100% oxygen for accelerated decompression profiles to a maximum of 25 minutes.

During the program we look at and discuss the benefits of a technical diving system, and run through a gear configuration session. On the Open Water Dives, we slowly progress from 20 metre and 30 metre dives through to the final dives at 45 metres. Some of the skills include stage tank management, gas sharing and problem solving. There is a large emphasis placed on team work and situational awareness. 

 

Prerequisites

  • SSI Deep diver (or equivalent)
  • SSI Nitrox (or equivalent)
  • 50 logged dives

Equipment requirements

  • Full Extended range total diving system suitable for twin tank diving (backmount or sidemount)
  • 2 x Dive computer including one capable of programmed decompression.  We use and recommend Shearwater dive computers
  • Accessories as per XR gear list requirements
